Hey you Dromers, I've managed to put a DeathDrome site online with all the necessary info and the DD files in zip format. users.telenet.be/deathdrome/There's also a DeathDrome clanserver at kali.net for players to gather before playing a couple of games. The latest news is that a technician over at the-underdogs is willing to look at the heat netcode in order to ameliorate netplay of the full version of DeathDrome. Also there's a fix for the incompatibility of the AMD and Intel launchers at kali.net, meaning that you can't join an Intel host if you have an AMD chip and vice versa. For now the only fix is to set up a custom game at 'Game Resources' so both versions can mix. The Kali owner provided me with a patched Kali file but that's only usable for subscribers. Free trial users have to use the fix with creating DeathDrome as a custom game and launch a lobby from there. Anyway DeathDrome is still available for online multiplay and that's still my priority. It just needs to be tuned some more Take care

Hey HitmanTCK, it's good to see you here. Thanks for helping out with the DeathDrome meeting. We're still trying to get the attention of the former Heat.net Dromers and it will take a bit time. The word is slowly spreading around. Aw Aww PanshenTDS i'll try looking around the net for compability programs for Vista. Have you tried Dosbox dosbox.sf.net ? It works for running older games on XP but i haven't got Vista experience so far.

Hey hitman, panshentds. I don't have vista, but i'd try sleeper's suggestion. I've used dosbox a little on xp before, but completely forgot about it until he brought it up. There's a link on the main page of the site - DOSBox and Vista ( www.dosbox.com/wiki/Dosbox_and_Vista). You might need to look at the cd-rom support section of that page after the tutorial. Also, sorry guys about not making it to the meeting. I couldn't get on kali yesterday. Hopefully I can get it to work before the next one. -Edit: I got it working.

Sup Stunner, i've found some other programs to mount .iso files: Alcohol 120% - www.alcohol-software.com/PowerISO - poweriso.com/Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel - from microsoft Maybe you can try the Heat version of DeathDrome for testing on Vista. It don't ask for a CD and if it works so should the full version. The DeathDrome clanserver is under the regular server list where you can find the official kali servers. There you can also check the clanservers, just look for DeathDrome. Hope to see you around next Sunday.

Well Vista really doesn't want to play nice with DD. First off my kali tracker won't connect for some reason. and when i launch DeathDrome it crashes automatically, even in compatibility mode. I have Dosbox but not really sure how to use it or how to get it to launch with DD through Kali. On a positive note I did get PowerISO to work in Vista.

sup stunner,
i've talked about the problem with panshentds, he's got vista too and is still trying to run DD on it. he got as far as the launch screen but that's it. after the windows launch screen it crashes for him too. he's going to use an old laptop for playing DD and i heard hitmantck was setting up his old comp to play on that one for better controls and handling. it's sad to say but that seems the only option if you're using vista. about kali not connecting to the tracker, it has to do with the NAT/proxy port settings. i'll try to look more into that on the kali forum.
greetings, sleeper

As far as i can tell, dosbox cant run dd, because dd is a windows95 game. You can install and run windows 3.1 on there, but i don't think 95 will work.
Windows 98 doesn't seem to install with dosbox either.

This might work. It's free. - Virtual PC www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/virtualpc/default.mspxImportant - hold alt key to get the mouse out of the virtual pc window once you've clicked inside. right-alt-enter switches to full screen. Let me know if you need any help with it or need a copy of windows 98. I don't know if it will help with the problem you had with your kali connection, but there are 2 settings to try for getting online. You should probably try the one that lists your network card, not NAT. It's less secure though, because windows 98 will be connected directly to your network, unless you set up a firewall on there. I tried virtual pc on xp. I installed windows 98 on there and dd ran great other than a small problem with the screen resolution. Sometimes after i run dd i have to reset the virtual machine to get the screen back to the right screen mode. I also started windows 98 once and didnt have sound, but i reset and havent had the problem since. The game runs slower than on xp, but maybe that's normal speed. On xp when i go to the runner select screen the runners spin too fast. This software has a built in virtual cd feature. Just click cd at the top and click "capture iso image"
