I'm glad to hear everyone likes the idea. Wolf, I can't think of a better name than Gang Wars.
I made a new forum section. I'll make you moderator as soon as i get a small problem fixed.
I'm gonna go ahead and move this thread to the development board in the new section if it's ok with you.

gang wars makes it sound like some pathetic little street war between 2 tiny suburbs...we need something that creates a much larger image in people's minds.

Yea let's move this to Development boards. How about Prison Bitch? excuse the profanity but in all seriousness I think it would be fitting. You lose your territory and you are then at the mercy of the other prisoner gang.
I will try to think of some better ones too.

lol! prison bitch i understand the idea behind it, but i think that would be more fitting as a (online) single player game format..along with capture the flag, ffa etc... i dont know how, but it just feels that way, to me

I don't like the name at all. I dont think it's a very good description. It's not that i think it's offensive, i'm just sure we can come up with something better.
Also, while we're on the subject of profanity, could we please keep this game "T" rated. I know prison isn't exactly a nice setting, but i'm against excessive violence, profanity, etc. in games. I'd like to at least keep it no worse than the first game, which would probably be at a "T" rating i think.

Yea my personal opinion on the rating of the game is Teen that way we get a fairly decent audience with adults and kids. For violence, however, people might look at it as borderline T/M because of the destruction and in game we can't preven't what one person might say to another. BUT, I am sure we could add in a chat filter that players can enable/disable before they start the game, of course this means coming up with a LONG line of "bad words" to filter out. It shouldn't be too hard, most forums have it and I am sure we could just take what they have and put in more if we see a need.
Good job on the section clone it looks nice. I might have some more ideas for sections you could put in here later on. By the way I am going to make a thread that tells the general details about the production/development and I was wondering if you could make it an Annoucement or sticky it, along with this thread as well.

Help us think of some Stunner. Btw, after our discussion on MSN the other day I have come to the conclusion that Spad has the right attitude and seems to know his stuff about marketing/business so Spad would you like to handle the Biz part when the time comes?

The name of the game is minor for the development process, U should focus more on the development....How long until you have enough schooling to be able to acutually code a beta?

I know it's not that important, but there isn't any reason we can't talk about it a little now. We haven't been talking about it that much, just a few comments here and there, not really focusing on it. It doesn't matter what we call it for now, just something i felt like talking about a little.
When it comes to the programming, if he needs a little help or advice from me, i may be able to offer it. I'm not an expert, but at least intermediate and have been into games programming for a while.

i dont want to 'handle' the biz part...atleast not on my own. i'm happy to oversee it & 'do it my way', but each of us suggested we have connections in various places, it would be stupid not to exploit every possible option we have when it comes to marketing/distribution. i am very happy you decided to put 100% into this though, it could truely be a great game.

One thing i didn't mention in my other post is that wolf has asked for more help with this project also, which we could use it i'm sure. It's probably a good idea to go ahead and ask. I can tell you from experience with this kind of thing that it's a good idea to get some things done first before looking into that too much though. We should come up with some more work to show people to get them interested and show them that this is a serious project with a dedicated team, not to mention gain their respect. Once we get some work done that we can really show people, we should set up a site, at least a temporary one as long as it looks decent and organized until we can get something better. Basically, give them a nice presentation. On game development forums, it doesn't usually work that well if you don't have some examples of work done already to show people. Btw wolf, i'm still working on that model of the example bike. It's getting close to being finished i think. I ran into a couple of problems that slowed me down, but it's been going along smoothly since then. I think you'd like it. I've been wanting to talk to you online again, but haven't seen you on since last week except that time when you kept logging on and off for some reason. -Clone

we can use my webspace, unless someone wants to buy a domain name.
i think we really need some sort of business plan. we should, atleast loosely, each have jobs & goals to reach. we are obviously all better at some areas than others, so lets put that into practical motion.
we first need to make a diagram of exactly what needs to be done..from start to finish, in detail...to produce a game. here's a badly layed out example, i've probly missed a few things, so please give me feedback.
sections: coding/engine gui level design online play system online league system website promotion/distribution
then each section could break down into smaller sections too...and work from there. i'll try to make something like this, with more detail. please post any ideas/suggestions.

Actually, that's part of what i was talking about for the site. You seem to be focusing mostly on the programming and left out the art though. Maybe you should add modeling/ textures/ other artwork.
