Yea I did a little more research on the engines and the Unreal 1 engine is older than Torque. Unreal is 98 and Torque is 2000 I think. Torque is much better for us I think so I will look into getting that sometime soon. Then hopefully we can start working around with it. If I can I will burn a copy and send it out to you so you can have fun with it too. I am going to be gone most of next week. I am headed out to AZ to tour the college and stuff so I might not post at all then but I will update you once I return. As far as DDII I haven't really been pondering up any ideas for awhile but I did record the ones we came up with plus there are here in the forums so it will always be here. As soon as I am done with all this stuff I will have more time to think about the game and the development. Although I did come up with some ideas for another game too but that stuff is top secret for now. -wolfy

I could help you with mapping and maybe programming...
I make maps for UT2k4, so I have a bit of experience there. I'd love to see what DDII would look like.

Hi madam, i also posted a reply in the other forum. I think any map making experience would be handy, but we'll have to wait to see what wolf says. Programming maybe, but we dont have anyone doing maps yet. I also have an idea for a project i might be working on later. I already started drawing concept art, in kind of a comic strip style since the game would have a bit of a cartoon look. It's a snowball fight game, but would be a lot more interesting than the ones i've seen online. Basically, its a 3d squad/team based game, first-person and 3rd-person views, with some unique weapons and equipment, not just throwing a snowball, and the players' characters are kids. Anyway, i kind of just wanted to mention this idea to everyone, not sure when i would need help with the game right now. I might post more details and maybe some of the art later. ;D -Clone256

Hey guys. Lemme just say, I think what you're doing is awesome. When I first played DD on heat, I fell in love. The community, though intimidating, fun, and obnoxious at times, was probably the heart and soul of the game, and it was a shame to see it fall apart. Ill be going to college in the fall as well, and I will also be studying Game Design. Let me know whats goin on if you can. Email me at FBJimbo@hotmail.com. Oh and btw, my old DD name was JDTL/HavocSB/Strider69KAP.

Love to see these new/old faces. Okay yea we do need some programmers if possible. I myself will be working on some maps/models and oversee all concepts of the project. Clone is our Lead Artist and Spad is our Biz Rep but I guess he is going to be out of the loop for awhile so I will try to pick up on that a bit. So just read through this thread to get up to date.
I have just learned that I may be getting access to the UT2K4 engine which would be cool for DD but I don't know how it will work. I would like opinions on what you guys think because we will all need to be working with the same engine. Which ever one is finalized I will try to make copies and send them out or put it up on an ftp or something.
Hey JD what school are you going to be attending? I will be going to UAT, Univeristy of Advancing Technology, it is in Arizona.

Hey jd. Thanks ;D and welcome back wolf, good to see you Yeah, UT2K4 engine would be great i think. It might not be as easy to use as torque, but better graphics. It's been a while since i've seen screenshots though. I've been interested in UAT for a while, but if i went to a place like that, so far away, it would mean a huge change for me and a big risk in some ways. I'm not sure if that would ever work. The Art Institute of Houstin is another one i was interested in. I'd probably want to do at least one map myself. I guess you enjoyed your trip to uat. What did they say about those questions you had, like using this for a project? Well, have to go for now. -Clone

They didn't have many answers for me there but I talked to some of the students who designed C.O.R. which was done by UAT students, and they said that they had some outside help on it also. Yea it is a big change and stuff but I think it will better my future. It is going to be expensive but I am going to be taking out some student loans and what not. If you want to consider it more I can direct some information your way and I am also looking for 3 more roomates which would be cool so we could work on DDII together lol. But anyways, I need to get back to finishing this test.

Heh, posting while taking a test.
I've checked out their site a couple of times and got them to send me some info a while back. If there's anything i might not know from that stuff they send out, sure let me know.
I had actually kind of thought about that possibility, heh. That we would be going to the same college if i decided to go there, so we could work on it in person. That would probably be cool.

Well Clone I don't want to stray off topic too much so I will just email you about it instead of taking up space in this thread.

Well, 10 days is long enough, so i'm gonna post something I was talking to GTPlayer the other day, the one that wanted to do some models for us. We talked about 3d modeling a little and about runner designs. He started a model of the runner in the image in the game, in the guide part. I dont know if he's finished it. This was more of a test model i think, nothing serious. It looked pretty good so far though. He also had an idea of a runner with 2 wheels in the back. I had an idea for one that turned at the middle, the front turning first at an angle (bending in the middle), maybe tilting to the side a little like the old ones, then the back following. I thought that one might look good with 2 wheels in the back, maybe we could combine those ideas into one design. I also noticed something, when he asked me what the thing under the front end on the runner was. I thought it was a wheel at first, because the screenshot was fuzzy and the game wasnt installed at the time. I realized later that it wasnt shaped like a wheel at all. I always thought the runners had 2 wheels, but now i dont think they do. I guess the front end hovers somehow, which is also an idea GTPlayer had suggested earlier when we thought it was a wheel, having one runner that has boosters in the front that make it hover. I wouldnt mind some with a wheel in the front and some without. We could have them handle differently. I think we probably should keep at least 1 wheel on all of them and i really dont think any should have more than 3. I also started working on a drawing of the design i was thinking about, except i dont know exactly what i want it to look like yet, so im not that far along. -Clone

You already know i am ;D It's good to see you again. I'm probably gonna talk to wolf again soon and see if he wants to go ahead with this thing or if he's even gonna have the time. It's not easy moving a project along when the most key member is away. If he's not able to be involved or doesn't want to, i'll probably go ahead with it myself and find some more people to help out (which we needed to do anyway). He could still help if that's the case, if he has the time. It's just that it might be better if he wasn't responsible for so much if he's not able to spend as much time on it. Also, i set up a network for the original dd. If anyone wants to try playing dd on there, you have to download a program called hamachi. One thing about hamachi though, is that it doesn't run on windows98. It runs on windows xp, windows 2000 or linux. The name of the network i set up is UOG Network. I'm not sure if it's case sensitive, so don't forget the caps. I named it that because i might expand it to include other games. PM me on the forums or email me for the password. Spad, i figured you'd be the one most likely to help me test it, if you want, once you have a computer you can play dd on and if you can run hamachi. -Clone
