gui = graphic user interface. i would assume that covers all the art...although the art for the prison's may not come under that i guess.

Yeah, i was just talking about the other things, i know the gui would cover some of the art. Of course if we're gonna organize things like this, the art for the levels would be under level design, so i guess you did get most of it on there.

nah i think you were right to start with...level layout & level art should be seperate. i can guarantee you i could make a decent map layout...but my art would be sh*te.

Sorry for inactivity guys I been busy lately. That list is great but yea put in modelling/level design or something. If you just sketch up a picture of a level Spad I am sure that Clone and I could ponder up something similar to it. Clone, I am looking forward to seeing that model I am glad to hear it is coming along great. Unfortunately I won't be active very much I have some things coming up like mothers day and school coming to an end but I will post whenever I can. I only expect this to go for a week so I should be okay after that. -wolfy

Well, it's been a while since we had any updates on here, so i'll get right to it. We have a new person for the dd2 development team, GTPlayer. He's the dd player that posted on the forum the other day. He will most likely be helping us out in the art department. We should try to get some people together for a game with him soon and welcome him back dd style. It's also now official, i'm the lead/senior artist for this game, which was kind of what i've been doing, except now it's official. Thanks wolf. I've also still been working on the example model i was working on. It's taking me longer than i thought to finish it because of a couple of problems i ran into and things that have been going on lately. It's basically done, it could use a couple of small parts, but i really just need to texture it and it would be ready to show everyone. I could use a good program for that. I did find one, but i'd have to wait until i get the money for it. I'll probably try to texture it in the other program first. Well, that's all i can think of for now. Hopefully we can get some more activity going in here soon. Looking forward to hearing from you guys. -Clone

Hey guys. Just checking in, I don't have any news really as of yet except school is almost done! Clone I got your email, I don't have any news on the rights to dd as of yet but my dad knows a couple of lawyers that might be willing to look into how to obtain them from Zipper. I am not sure but I think the rights have to be renewed every once in awhile so we might not have to buy them from him, but again I am not sure. Hey Clone did you do something different to the forums? I had to reactivate my account or something. Anyways, good to see GTPlayer back with DD I got to head out now talk to you later guys. -wolfy

Hey wolf. Proboards upgraded the forums. This version is a little different. One thing i noticed was that when you preview a post, it looks the same as a normal post with the name and everything. That's interesting, what you said about the dd rights. Would the lawyers do this as a favor or is it gonna cost you? -Clone

Hey it looks great. I would suggest spreading the wheels out a tad more like Spad said. Also change the rims if you could. Stars look funny. I was think the old DD logo which if you look at the game is a D and a backwards D, that would be like a little easter egg for the original game.
Clone, as I said in my email I will try to update you guys once a week on what is going on.
I have been so busy with other stuff right now that I haven't really talked to my dad about the seeing if his friend could do it for free or how much it would cost. All I want is him to look into it so I wouldn't think it to cost more than a couple hundred which I will cover myself. I will try to bring it up at dinner tonight.
Guys if you need to contact me just send me an email.

Thanks. You're right though, the tires do look kind too small. I made them bigger, but it meant that i had to change the other parts to make them fit while trying to keep the bike looking the same, especially the front end. I didnt make this to use in the game though, it couldnt be used anyway because its based on a real bike design. It was good practice though. The exhaust pipes could probably be used with something else. Here is one of the photos i based it on: Here are new screenshots of the bike after the changes. I still havent changed the rims though. The angle in the top one makes the tires look kind of small no matter what, but they're at least as big as the ones in the photo. If a couple of parts weren't missing in the back that would help. -Clone

Hmm I was thinking maybe it should be wider and enclosed. I don't want to stray too far away from the original Runner design so what I had in mind is something that would basically encase a body. Let me know if you guys think we should do open motor bikes or enclosed ones.
Yesterday I had something I was going to post but I forgot what it was. But anyways, I have my tour for my college set next week so I am going to ask them a lot of questions about the development of games and if we can have people from the outside working on it as well and still count as project credit.
Oh yea I remember what I was going to tell you. I am trying to get in touch with CliffyB, maybe you know him? He is the guy behind the Unreal series. I haven't had a live conversation with him just a few forum posts like we do here. But basically I wanted to ask him a bunch of questions about this game. Specifically licsensing and marketing and the price on the Unreal Engine 1.0, which I think is a major improvement from the old DD engine which I don't know anything about.
I did talk to other game designers about their thoughts, they suggested the torque engine because this is and indie game and it is the most user friendly and most known engine for indie devs. There is a lot of respect for the engine out there even if it isn't the best graphics there are many great features about it. Now the reason I wanted to talk to CliffyB is because he is a little more successful and well known compared to the ones I have talked to so basically I am thinking in terms of "If we want it to succeed ask someone who is successful."
I am out for the weekend so I will update you next week.

Yeah, i think they should be enclosed. I've decided to come up with a runner design and make a model of it, then post it here to see what you think.
I've never heard of CliffyB, but im not really that much into the unreal series. I used to play unreal tournament on sega dreamcast, but i think that's all.
The torque engine seems like a great engine to me. I've tried some of it out. It doesnt seem complicated and the graphics are good enough, so i think that would be a great choice. I'm not sure why you would be interested in Unreal Engine 1 though. It's pretty old by now isnt it? I figured it wouldnt have anything to offer that torque doesnt have. Let me know if there's any info i should take a look at though.
