I think this thread could use an update. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I bought a license to use the Torque game engine recently. I've been getting used to it and hope to have something worth showing soon, maybe even within a couple of weeks. I mean a small demo of the gameplay, just something kind of simple, without many features. I've also changed 3d modeling programs since last time i posted anything related to modeling. I'm using Milkshape now. It's a better program in my opinion. I'm also considering creating a web site for this new game, at least once things get rolling we'll want one. That includes buying a domain name. We're gonna need design documents soon, at least once we have a web site up. Spad, maybe you could help with the design documents. Once we have a web site, design documents and a small demo, I'll start to look for more team members to help out, while i continue to work on the game. Well, that's about all for now. Talk to ya later. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) edit- hooray! we've reached 7 pages in this thread ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) -Clone

Well, i ran into a problem with the game engine. It doesn't really support vehicles with 2 wheels. I've been trying to fix it.
The problem is that the vehicle won't stand up while sitting still, so when the level starts, the vehicle just falls over.
I might consider changing to hover vehicles instead. I'd rather have vehicles with wheels and some that have partial hovering, like front end hovering and a wheel in the back, but that might not be practical.
Also, i'm guessing that even if i get the vehicle to stand up, it's not going to handle well at all because of the way the physics work.
Hopefully i'll be able to fix these physics problems soon.

maybe the vehicle could be like a bird...birds have 2 legs, vehicle has 2 wheels...but the bird spends most of the time off the ground. maybe thats a bad analogy, but you probly get the point ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) -Spad

Yeah, i've thought about making it a hover vehicle and just have wheels there for looks.
That might mean making some changes to the code for the engine, but i'm probably gonna need to do that anyway.
I'd have to work on the handling.

I guess i'll go ahead and announce that Sleeper has officially joined the current dd2 team and W4ntDdr0m3 (a.k.a. Daedricdreamer/MercyKill) has also joined. I started working on the new game again a little while back and after talking to them recently, they showed an interest in working on this project. W4ntDdr0m3 has set up a new site at www.freewebs.com/ddii although it needs to be updated. I encourage anyone that's interested in helping to let me know, even if you don't have game development experience. All that's needed is an interest. I'll walk you through the steps needed to set up the tools and start producing something. You can at least work on one level for the game. Also, if there's anyone that has a talent when it comes to making textures or knows someone who does and would be interested in helping, please let me know. We could use additional texture artists. -Clone
